We all use heat-styling tools and most of us like to colour or highlight our hair. All of this...without paying much attention to the fact that we are exposing our delicate tresses to chemicals and extreme heat! This includes processes like lowlights, balayage, bleaching, relaxers, perms and of course, chlorine found in pools. These all have one thing in common however, over time - it all causes damage to our hair.
How do you know if your hair is damaged?
It's very simple. You will have breakage, split ends, and shedding of broken hair that will usually feel dry and brittle to the touch. It will also tangle easily, especially after you shampoo, and for many, even throughout the day.
4 types of damage
- Chemical Damage - is caused by harsh chemicals used in perms, blowouts, hair colour, chlorine exposure, and bleaching. These chemicals attack the protective outer layer of the hair and leave cracks in it. These chemical reactions compromise the integrity of the hair and strip hair bonds leaving it weak, brittle, and prone to breakage.
- Structural Damage- is caused by long-term chemical damage and over-brushing. This damage can be identified because you will notice split ends, extreme dryness and brittle strands that break off often.
- Thermal Damage- is caused by using excessive heat from heat-styling tools like hairdryers (including diffusers), flat irons, wands, curlers, and hot combs without using a heat protectant to coat and repel the harmful effects of heat.
- Environmental Damage- is caused by hard water deposits on the hair that will certainly build up over time. Overexposure from the sun (especially when mixed with chlorine from pools) can also cause damage to the hair, leaving it parched and brittle.
Yep, it’s damaged…now what?
Keep in mind that no two people have the same hair/curl type, density, or level of damage. Bottom line is that damage is damage. The sooner you restore and repair those broken bonds, the better your hair will be. If you colour or bleach your hair or heat style regularly, you will need to incorporate a treatment into your hair regimen.
What is Rapid Hair Repair and how do I use it?
Simply put? It’s a bond-fortifying treatment. Our focus was to find ingredients that can repair the hair on a molecular level. The process works extremely fast due to the high absorption rate of micro amino acids (building blocks of hair).

Here are the Do’s and Don’ts of using Rapid Hair Repair
Apply only where you need it. A ½ ounce to 1-ounce treatment goes a long way and you don’t want to waste it.
|Apply it from roots to ends (unless your hair is damaged throughout. Try to focus on the areas that need it. E.g. your ends or from the ears down to your ends.
Leave it on for 5 minutes at the very minimum. Ideally, 10-15 minutes for maximum effect. Rinse it out with warm water.
|Worry about leaving it on for too long (up to an hour). It won’t hurt your hair. However you must rinse thoroughly as it is not to be used as a leave-in conditioner.
Use after a good wash. Squeeze the excess water out of your hair before applying it so it doesn’t become diluted.
|Apply this on unwashed hair. Shampoo your hair twice first, thoroughly rinse it and then apply the treatment.
