For those curlies who are tired of having their hair down on a daily basis and would like to try something new and simple – these quick updo’s are just what you need. With work, family, school and social life, most of us don’t have 30 minutes to beautify our hair each day. Sometimes we only have a few minutes to add a bit of magic to our tangled messes. So I came up with two super simple hair updo’s that are perfect for a night out or when you’re having a bad hair day. Nobody will know the difference. Try them out yourself!
This hairstyle is a modern version of the classic bun. Flowers and nature accessories are super popular as they create more of a wholesome vibe. Use it to add a touch of whimsy to your hairdo!
Step 1: Start with your natural curly hair. Your hair can be just washed or pre-styled the day before, or even a few days before. It’s up to you. Sometimes the days between styles are better and I find the hair easier to work with.
Step 2 and 3: Pull your hair to one side. Twist it and roll it into a bun-like fashion. You know how to do it. You’ve done it a million times.
Step 4: Pin your bun in place with a few bobby pins. Looks nice, but we’re not done yet.
Step 5: Add any floral decor, clips or pins that you may have. I liked these leaves and tiny daisies. Voila! You’re done!
The Bun Braid
Braids are on the rise right now and with that so are buns. So why not put the two together – it’s like two hairstyles in one. The bun braid is incredibly simple and requires about 2.5 minutes of your time. This style is ideal for one of those mornings where you got up late and you have to rush out the door.
Step 1: Put your hair in a high ponytail. Super high. Like cheerleader ponytail status.
Step 2: Braid your hair. As you can see, I am not a perfectionist. I prefer the abnormalities and bumps and lumps. After all, I did say this would take 2.5 minutes, not 10.
Step 3: Twist it like as if you were making a bun. Now pin it.
Gosh that was easy. Why didn’t I do this earlier? Now I can hide my grungy hair on bad hair days. Hopefully you like these styles and create them for yourself. Curly hair is never something to be ashamed of. It’s fun! Just like us.
